This week in World History, we will finish up our research on Hammurabi and his set of laws as well as complete our writing assignment on the same subject. We will begin our look at Ancient Egypt and answer questions like "did aliens or people build the pyramids?". Burning questions about slavery and where it comes from will also be answered as we take a tough look at the human history of servitude, haves and have-not society and people who treat other people as Gods.

This week in World History, we will be finishing up our chapter on early civilizations and taking our first test of the year on Thursday. We will also begin to examine a powerful influence in the early laws of man, Hammurabi and his set of laws. These laws were harsh and in many cases unjust, but many were also the basis for many of the laws we have today. In this DBQ, we will examine these laws and the students will decide for themselves whether or not these laws are just or unjust. We will also be a part of history this week during our solar eclipse. The next one for our area will not be around again until 2044, so in order for your student to get the most out of this, please plan accordingly.
This week in World History, we will begin our journey into Mesopotamia and the the beginning of civilization. We will start with learning about time lines and dates and why they are important. We will also begin our notes in preparation for the first test as well as get acquainted with John Green of Crash Course World History.
Students, welcome back and welcome to the 8th grade! This week, we will be going over rules and procedures, getting to know one another and examining exactly what this class is. You will be handed several very important documents to be taken home and filled out if you are in my homeroom as well. So, lets get excited about being here and get back into work mode, because this class is all about the hard work of history.
