During the Middle Ages, Europe was struggling with religious zealotry, disease and figuring out how to deal with their own mortality, the Chinese were thriving with invention and religious freedom. On the downside, they did spread the black plague along the Silk Road trade routs. This week in World History, we will begin investigating China in the Middle Ages and answering the questions that comes along with that investigation. We will have notes on Monday and Thursday and a map activity on Wednesday. On Tuesday, we will be taking a break from China to learn about Halloween and answer some of the questions that come with that spooky time of the year.

Welcome back from our Fall break! The new 9 weeks starts now and there will be at least one major change starting this week. We will be starting our #projectattack. The idea of #projectattack is that we (teachers) really push on certain goals. For World History, since we work closely with our language arts, this means working on reading and long passage reading to be exact. We will begin reading an article that concentrates on our subject matter at time (Ancient China this week) and we will discuss the passage at the end of the article. Each day the students will read a new section of the article and analyse that section on a prepared document analysis sheet made especially for this subject. At the end of the 9 weeks, those analyst sheets will be take up for a daily grade. Now, this week in World History, we will explore Ancient China as well as take our test on the subject.
This week will begin to explore Ancient China as well as get some work done and turned in. Parents, just for your own education on this matter, if I give an assignment and the student has not completed the assignment, they may complete it and turn it into the box located near the back of the room. These assignments do not always get graded right away and sometimes will have to sit until I have time for them. I have encouraged students to get the work done on my time, not their time, but so far that has been a bridge too far for many of them. Please encourage your student(s) to turn in assignments ASAP. This week, students who are allowed to make tests up will do so as well.
Let me start this by apologizing for not having a new update up last night. My internet has been down at home and I did not have much time today to get it up...but here we are! This week in World History, we will continue our look at India by examining both Hinduism and Buddhism as well as Ancient India's links to the present. We will have a review for the test on Tuesday and our test will be on Thursday. On Wednesday, we will break into groups and look at photographs from present day India and the students will take part in a photo analysis. On Friday, we will take our first look at Ancient China.
