This week in world history we are going to examine Alexander the Great and whether or not he is a villain or one of the good guys (very subjective assignment). We will also have our test on Ancient Greece, followed by our first look at China in the Middle Ages. Be sure to charge your laptops, as at least one assignment will be located on Google Classroom.

Hey folks! Hope your weekend went well and I hope your football teams won. This week we are going to start by finishing up our notes for Ancient Greece as well as going over the notes for the test on Thursday. We will again have new students coming into the classroom from virtual, so there will be some getting to know each other time as well as a shift in our seating situation. On Tuesday, I will actually be at the Board of Education working on future tests along with history teachers from around the county, so you will be working in Career Prep. On Wednesday we will be talking about Greek Culture. Thursday, we will have our test on Ancient Greece. 2nd period will have their first test on Greece before starting on their next section which is also about Greece. Friday will of course be held out for Career Prep. See you tomorrow morning!
Hey all! I hope that you all enjoyed some time off this week and are ready to get back to school! Corny...I know, but I'm always ready. So here is the deal for this week. We have new students coming in from virtual and they will need to be brought up to speed on Ancient Greece. They will need notes, they need assignments and they will need to get to know me a little bit and as most of you know...getting to know me is strange even in a normal year, so this week will be equally strange. Most of you will work in Career Prep, some of you will be playing catch up on items that you have yet to turn into me. We also have a number of students out due to quarantine. Those students should be back on the 16th (Friday). To top all of this off, we are having our homecoming this week! When you come to class this week, expect to make up any of the work that you have missed or expect to be in Career Prep (your favorite subject).
Parents, I will be given more clear instructions this week on how history teachers are to report your students Career Prep grade for the 9 weeks. My understanding is that unlike standard classes (math, science, history, ELA), the Career Prep grade will be running grade for the year, not the 9 weeks. For example, if your student currently has an 80% average for this 9 weeks, that is what I would record in iNow, but if they have a 70% on the next 9 weeks, then that is their actual grade. So basically, what ever grade they have in May is their actual grade. We will not average each 9 weeks like other classes. If I am mistaken, I will let you know via Remind. Below are the MMS Homecoming activities for the week! This week in World History, we are going to get ready for our Quarter 1 test which will be on Thursday. I will go over that information on Monday as well as continue our notes on Ancient Greece. On Tuesday, 2nd period will have their test on Early India and all classes will work on Career Prep. We have a goal for Career Prep to be at or around 30% by the end of the 9 weeks. The reason that we are trying to be above 25% is due to the research paper in the Spring. The more Career Prep that is completed in the Fall semester, the more time I can grant during class in the Spring for research so that the students do not have to do as much outside of class. On Wednesday, we will take a deeper look at Sparta and their war with Athens. On Thursday we will be taking the Q1 test followed by Career Prep afterwards as well as on Friday which is the last day of the 9 weeks.
