This week in World History, we will finish up our look at the Roman Republic on Monday as well as review for our midterm exam (explained later), take a look at the day to day life of Roman citizens on Tuesday, and study the geography of the Mediterranean world on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will have our midterm exam. Exemption forms will go home on Monday and are to be returned on Tuesday. Students who are found to meet the requirements for exemption will still be required to be at school on the day of the exam (they still have to be present in Math and English classes to be exempt for the December exams) but will be taken by our administrators to a different location for fun and games while the exam is taking place. For those students taking the exam, they can expect a lighter, non-cumulative, exam. On Friday, we will begin looking at how the Roman Empire comes into being.

This week in World History, we will begin our very long journey with Rome. We will probably spend the better part of one full month on the topic going between the Republic, The Empire and of course Rome's very important role in the spreading of Christianity that will eventually lead us to the Crusades down the road. This week, we will learn about Rome's beginnings, the rise of the Republic as well as its downfall. We will start with notes over the first two days including one activity on Rome's Twelve Table laws, and move on to their geography on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will finish up our notes and begin talking about the death of Julius Caesar and the love between Antony and Cleopatra. On Friday, we will finish up our Julius Caesar Activity. I am still working on exactly how our research project that will be due in November will be laid out, but I may find a place this week for us to discuss that as well.
This week in world history, we will start off the week by talking about the Persian War (THIS IS SPARTA!!!!). We will use a graphic organizer to talk about the differences between Sparta and Greece and this activity will continue into Tuesday. We will also go over our vocabulary on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will examine Alexander the Great as we finish our notes and also go over our test for Friday. On Thursday, we will work on an activity for the Persian War and finish up any unfinished work from the week time permitting. Friday, we will have our test on Greece. This test will introduce a new kind of essay question to the students known as a "State the Relationship" question. Students will have three words/terms and will need to connect those in essay format. This practice insures that the students not only understand the subject on a basic level, but also on a deeper one. The test will also include vocabulary.
Hey everyone! So we start out this week with our test on Early China! On Tuesday, the current plan is to examine 9/11 and allow our students to really see what happened that day that changed America so dramatically. On Wednesday, we will start our notes on Ancient Greece and will accompany that with a graphic organizer activity. Parent night is on Thursday and I'm looking forward to talking with many of you. On Friday, we will continue our notes as well as work on an activity for the section.
This week in World History we will start taking a look at China. This is a short section and we will actually test on it next Monday (the 10th). Tomorrow, we will start and finish our notes on China, followed by Wednesday with a graphic organizer on the different Chinese Dynasties. On Thursday, we will start on our vocabulary as well as take a shot and understand Confucius. On Friday, we will finish our vocabulary and, through practice, attempt to create our own Chinese Calligraphy.
