We are almost to September already! So far, the grand majority of you have done great. Very few phone issues, which if I'm being honest...I'm shocked at how well you've all followed that rule. This week in world history, we are going to be learning about the Ancient Egyptians! No, we will not talk about aliens building the Pyramids. On Monday, we will start notes. Mr. Dean will be mostly on the same page as me I believe, but he will run homeroom and first period probably until sometime in later November or early December. He will eventually take over all of the classes for a time. We will also begin work on the Daily Life in Egypt. If you do not have color pencils, please pick a pack up...you're going to stretch that artsy side of your inner self. This project will take a couple of days, so we will go back to some notes on Thursday and then on Friday, we will learn about he pharaohs of Egypt. We have a three day weekend coming up!

This week in World History we are going to start with the Code of Hammurabi! During the school year, students will work on multiple Data Based Questioning (DBQ) assignments. Students are given primary and secondary source documents and answer questions based on their reading. This is assignment is given in Google Classroom, but paper copies are available for classroom use only. I have talked to the students about their use of Google Classroom, which is required. I also understand that they will not be allowed to take home their Chromebooks this year. Students are given ample amounts of time in class to finish their work, but the expectation is that they finish the work at home if they do not finish in class. Students may access Google Classroom from PC's, laptops, tablets, and phones as well. The assignment will last two days and only Wednesday, we will review for our test as well work on how to properly write an essay.
We have our first test on Thursday and will write an essay for the Code of Hammurabi on Friday. Hey all! Welcome to World History! This week, we are going to tackle the first notes for our class, which are about Paleolithic and Neolithic history, followed by at least some of the notes on Mesopotamia. We have our Star test on Thursday, so that day will be a little chaotic schedule wise and a documentary will be played for some classes about early man. On Friday, we will begin our first DBQ and it is a student favorite, "Hammurabi's Code"!
